EcoScholars in Bloom

In Rwanda, schools are key spaces for shaping values of responsibility, sustainability, and community participation. However, many schools face challenges such as limited environmental education, inadequate waste management, and low student engagement in climate initiatives.

Building on earlier community projects promoting kitchen gardens and sustainable agriculture, Grown To Help Organization launched the EcoScholars in Bloom Campaign to extend environmental action into schools. The campaign aims to foster a culture of stewardship among young people by combining awareness-raising, practical activities, and long-term environmental management.

The overall goal of the EcoScholars in Bloom project is to promote environmental awareness and action among students by integrating practical conservation initiatives into school life. Specifically, the project seeks to build the capacity of students to become EcoScholars leaders and advocates for environmental protection within their schools and communities, while promoting tree planting and the development of green spaces in educational environments. It also aims to strengthen environmental clubs as sustainable platforms for continuous climate education and action, and to encourage schools to adopt eco-friendly practices in waste management, water conservation, and biodiversity protection.
