"Women Creative Center" Beneficiaries are young women aged 17 to 24 who undergo training in sewing and, after graduation, they are hired to work at the center or receive start-up funds to help them open their own sewing workshop. We're delighted to have created this center, which will have an impact on the lives of so many young women in the community who have dropped out of school for various reasons, and who are passionate about fashion, sewing and entrepreneurship.
The women economic empowerment program is divided into two projects, one of which is called "Women in Business", under which women heads of beneficiary household benefit from training in financial literacy and small business creation. At the end of the training, they present their projects in order to receive start-up capital that will enable them to launch income-generating activities. They are grouped together in the IGIHOZO savings group, the first phase of which closed in May 2023. The total amount saved over a 55-week period was Rwf 589,350. The highest amount saved per individual was Rwf110,000 with 220 shares, and the lowest amount saved was Rwf27,500 with 55 shares. In addition, a fund of 80,000 Rwf was raised through a weekly contribution of 100 Rwf per person, plus interest on internal loans. This amount will be used to open a bank account that will encourage group members to work closely with financial institutions, thereby securing their money and improving their financial knowledge.
We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and the necessary resources for their academic journey. We support our beneficiary students by providing essential school supplies, educational materials, and scholarships for underprivileged students in our community. We educate students of public schools in sexual and reproductive health, and in gender-based violence prevention, and we make sure that a number of girls from low-income families do not miss class during their periods due to lack of menstrual hygiene materials. This kind of support not only enhance beneficiaries learning experience but also boost their confidence and motivation.
We aim to transform the lives of children from low-income households and help their parents overcome poverty, through education and women economic programs. One of the key indicators of our success for the year 2022-2023 the number of beneficiaries we have served and the lives we have transformed. This confirm our ability to make a larger impact and reach more individuals in need for the next years.
A legal personality certification for NGOs in Rwanda is a formal recognition granted by the Rwanda Governance Board that establishes an NGO as a separate legal entity. This certification provides NGOs with various rights and responsibilities, enabling them to operate within the legal framework of Rwanda.
Grown To Help (GTH) Organization, was founded with the aim of empowering vulnerable families by supporting their children's education and helping them to develop self-reliance. our team is very motivated and driven by a wish to see changes in the lives of women and children in Kigali. During this year, we have encountered several challenges which hindered our work being accomplished, Covid 19 prevention measures, unexpected lockdowns, and lack of funds are key factors that negatively affected Gth's plan to be executed as planned, Fortunately, we are on the right track toward accomplishing our mission. GTH's team has put in place measures to deal with unforeseen, by establishing a Risk Management Plan, Resource Mobilization Plan, Team Capacity Building Plan, Furthermore by maintaining its culture of collaborating with the local government, local and international NGOs to learn from each other's, share experiences and grow.
The badge will allow founders to more easily access seed funding and partnership opportunities provided through our own programs. It can also be used independently from Lightup Impact activities, for instance, to showcase the organization's credibility with external partners.
