Eric Havugimana is an experienced Agriculture and Nutrition Expert at Grown to Help (GTH), where he leverages his agribusiness expertise to support the organization’s initiatives aimed at improving food security and nutrition for vulnerable communities. With a strong background in agri-economics and rural development, Eric is committed to enhancing agricultural practices that promote sustainable nutrition outcomes.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from the University of Rwanda's College of Agriculture, Animal Science, and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM), where he specialized in agri-economics and rural development. His professional experience includes working as an agronomist on the Agro-tech project in Runda and Gacurabwenge sectors, managing agricultural activities across two growing seasons from September 2023 to May 2024. During this time, he gained hands-on experience in crop management and the integration of nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices.
In addition to his role at GTH, Eric completed a four-month internship with the IABEM Cooperative in Makera Swamp, focusing on vegetable and maize cultivation. His earlier career also includes an eight-month tenure as an agrodealer with Kenya Seed Company Ltd., where he worked on promoting seed distribution and crop support.
Eric has strong skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, which he developed while working with Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) and conducting research on agricultural initiatives like GIRINKA and VUP. His ability to analyze the impact of these initiatives on rural livelihoods complements his expertise in nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
With his passion for sustainable agriculture and community nutrition, Eric is dedicated to improving food systems and enhancing the well-being of rural populations, helping them achieve better nutrition outcomes through effective agricultural practices.
