Youth Empowerment

Scholarships

Education is a fundamental right for all individuals. Yet, for many children from low-income households, this right remains out of reach due to the inability to afford school fees, supplies, and uniforms.

At 'Grown to Help' (GTH), we are committed to breaking these barriers by providing essential support that enables children from disadvantaged backgrounds to access education and thrive academically and personally.

Our Initiatives
Providing School Supplies and Materials
We equip children with essential learning tools such as books, notebooks, pens, and other vital aids. These resources ensure they can fully engage in their studies and develop their skills effectively.

Supplying Uniforms for Social Inclusion
Uniforms foster a sense of equality and belonging, allowing children from underprivileged backgrounds to participate fully in all school activities. This helps nurture an environment of discipline, respect, and inclusivity within schools.

Paying School Fees
By covering school fees, we enable children from economically disadvantaged families to pursue uninterrupted education, achieve academic progress, and realize their aspirations.

Promoting Academic Performance
Through organized meetings and events, we motivate children to excel in their studies and emphasize the importance of becoming competitive in the labor market.

Educating Parents and Caretakers
We conduct workshops on Positive Parenting, guiding families on how to support their children's education. This ensures that parents and guardians understand their vital role in enhancing school performance.

Why This Matters
Family poverty is one of the primary reasons children receive limited education. Many are forced to leave school early, either to take up manual jobs to contribute to their family's income or to stay home and care for siblings while their parents work.

By supporting these children, we are:

Reducing the number of illiterate children.
Improving the well-being of vulnerable families.
Helping break the cycle of poverty in Kigali by giving children the opportunity to transform their futures.
Educated children play a crucial role in their families' development and contribute significantly to society. By providing access to education, we open doors to new opportunities and empower these children to pursue their dreams and lead fulfilling lives.

MBERA UMURINZI - IN SCHOOL CAMPAIGN / SRHR Education & GBV Prevention

We Educate - Engage -Advocate - Support - With respect to both genders (Girls and Boys) in School : Despite the critical importance of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education, many schools struggle to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate, and unbiased instruction due to societal taboos and a lack of adequately trained teachers. This gap leaves adolescents vulnerable to negative outcomes, including higher rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unintended pregnancies, sexual harassment, school dropouts, and early marriage, especially among girls.

To address these challenges, Grown to Help (GTH) has developed an in-school mentorship program that enhances SRHR education, promotes gender equality, and prevents Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in a safe and supportive environment. The program targets adolescents in public schools by establishing and strengthening school health clubs, which serve as platforms for open discussions on critical topics such as sexual consent, harassment prevention, and gender equality. By fostering these dialogues, the initiative challenges harmful social norms and cultivates positive attitudes, empowering both boys and girls to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

This project aims to close essential gaps in SRHR education by equipping students with comprehensive, age-appropriate knowledge and practical skills. It seeks to reduce the prevalence of STIs, unintended pregnancies, and other adverse outcomes while empowering students to recognize, prevent, and address sexual harassment and GBV. Through this work, the program actively promotes gender equality, fostering a safer and more inclusive school environment for all.
